April 15, 2010 Regular Meeting Agenda Item #24 Item Title C-23 Exclusion of MRE and CHE in Willie Ann Glenn Summer Food Service Requirements Issue/Rationale Based on the Willie Ann Glenn Act the District is required to have summer feeding at schools with >50% free and reduced participation. Based on our current free and reduced percentages the following schools will have a summer feeding program: CEB, GPE, WEC, SPJ, KHHS, MBE. The request to exclude MRE and CHE from the requirements is based on location and logistics. Both schools are located in rural areas and student participation is expected to be minimal. Federal reimbursement for these two schools is not expected to cover food, labor and electricity costs. Recommended Action Exclude MRE and CHE from requirement.
